Privacy
This page says what the website stores, what stays in the tab, and what an account keeps.
Guest files
A file you open without an account is saved in this browser, including later changes, so a reload opens the same file. The database name is domdoc-guest. Closing the file removes that copy. Clearing site data for this site removes it too.
That copy is not uploaded. If you choose to keep the file and then sign in with Gmail or GitHub, the bytes are also held in session storage under the key domdoc.keep-file for up to 15 minutes so they can be uploaded after the provider sends you back. They are removed after that upload, or when they expire.
Account
An account stores an email address, the sign-in provider, whether the email is verified, a display name when we have one, and your preferences. A password is stored as a hash. The password itself is not stored.
A session lasts 30 days. The database stores a hash of the session token. Signing out deletes that session.
Files you keep are stored for that account until you delete them from the library.
Sign-in providers
Gmail and GitHub receive the sign-in request when you choose them. We store the email they return, the provider name, and a display name when they send one.
Opening a file
Opening a file asks this site for a short-lived ticket so the browser can load the engine for that format. The ticket is bound to this site. The file is not part of that request.
Ads
The free Cloud plan can show ads on the library and on a document page. Ads are not placed over the document. An ad-free plan turns that slot off.
A personalised ad stays off for a visitor in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland unless they have agreed. It also stays off when the browser sends Global Privacy Control, or when a visitor in the US opts out of sale or sharing.
Visits
Every page on this site, including the SDK docs, loads Google Analytics so we can see which pages are opened. The cookies that measurement sets are described on the cookies page.
Your choices
You can use the editor without an account. You can delete a kept file from the library. Sign out ends the session in this browser.
The site keeps the colour preference in local storage under the key domdoc-theme. Saving preferences on a signed-in account stores that same choice with the account.
Cookies are described on the cookies page.
